About The Position

We are seeking a reliable, hands-on professional to help oversee the care and operation of Camp Fiddlecreek in Labadie, Missouri. As the key back-up to the Senior Camp Ranger, this role takes ownership of maintaining facilities, monitoring site safety, and addressing day-to-day issues – often working independently during the Senior Camp Ranger’s absences. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being a trusted on-site resource. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, dependable, comfortable working independently across a variety of tasks, and will have flexible availability, particularly on weekends. This part-time role typically works one (1) scheduled weekend per month, which may include daytime, evening, and overnight hours to provide property coverage. Additional shifts may occasionally be available to cover planned or unplanned absences. During assigned weekends, this role will stay on-site to provide overnight presence and respond to facility or property needs. The starting hourly wage for this role is $20.00.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, and to represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to live on-site during select weekends to provide 24-hour emergency coverage.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional short-notice coverage.
  • Red Cross First/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain such within 6 months of employment.
  • Class E driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a camp, park, or outdoor recreating setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain camp facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for campers, volunteers, and staff.
  • Respond to property-related emergencies and critical issues in a timely manner, notifying the Senior Ranger and the Director of Camping Services immediately when issues arise.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs, such as minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, and general facility upkeep.
  • Support camp operations by assisting with setups, breakdowns, and other facility-related needs for scheduled events.
  • Monitor and report any necessary repairs or safety hazards to the Senior Ranger and the Director of Camping Services.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers, staff, and contractors to maintain camp facilities and resources.
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working order.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, GSUSA and ACA guidelines, and as directed by a supervisor.
  • Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
