About The Position

The Camp Nurse at The Arc of York and Adams Counties is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all camp participants, including campers and staff. The role involves providing medical care, managing health records, and promoting a healthy camp environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a pediatric or camp setting.
  • Experience in managing health care for children and young adults, including those with special needs.
  • Proven track record of working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with campers, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate medical records.
  • Proficient in administering medication and first aid.
  • Capability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of state health regulations and camp health policies.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the absence of direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Administer first aid and emergency care to campers and staff as needed.
  • Dispense prescribed medications and maintain accurate medical records for all participants.
  • Conduct health screenings and assessments upon camper arrival and throughout their stay.
  • Collaborate with camp staff to develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide health education and wellness guidance to campers and staff to promote a healthy camp environment.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure the camp's health facilities are well-equipped.
  • Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding campers' health issues and concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with local and state health regulations and standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about camp activities and protocols.
