Camp ClapHans and J.D. McCarty is looking for Camp Nurse to join our team for the summer. This position is responsible for providing treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions. They will work with the camp physician to promote good health and care. This position will administer medication, monitor and record patient progress, and educate families and the patient as needed. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, proficient and love interacting with young people. This position is vital in assisting to create and manage nursing care plans. They will participate in the evaluation of current and future medical needs of the patient. This will be a great experience for any Nurse to gain working knowledge in the field of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities. Join us for the summer and your bonus is one great adventure! Camp ClapHans is a residential summer camp for kids with disabilities ages 8 to 18 and is an outreach program of the McCarty Center. The camp is located on the center's campus and features two cabins and an activity building that are located next to an 11-acre lake. There are six camp sessions offered each summer with activities for campers that include archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, talent shows and swimming. Our summer staff members consist of Camp Counselors, Camp Leaders, a variety of therapist participation, and Camp Nurses. Each camper is assigned to a counselor with the camper/counselor ratio of 1:1. Prior to the camp sessions beginning, training will be provided to the staff. We are fortunate to have Camp Staff whose personal and educational interests are in the allied health-care fields (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology); special and general education; outdoor recreation; nutrition; and other related fields
