Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, a premier overnight summer camp in the Berkshires, is seeking a Camp Nurse / Licensed Medical Professional (LMP) to join our healthcare team for Summer 2026. This is a unique opportunity to live and work at camp, build meaningful relationships with campers and staff, and enjoy the best of summer camp life—all while practicing within a supportive, well-structured medical system. Position Overview The Camp Nurse (Licensed Medical Professional) provides medical oversight and day-to-day healthcare services to campers and staff at one of our overnight camps. You will be part of a collaborative healthcare team that includes Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and a Medical Office Manager. In addition, there will be a Healthcare Consultant and a Medical Advisor on call to advise and act as a point of escalation for healthcare questions. Priority will be given to candidates who are able to live on site and commit to the full summer (June 20–August 21, 2026). Schedule & Commitment Our Camp Health Centers are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the summer season. Typical shifts are 12 hours long with one day and one night shift. Day shift are typically 7 AM – 7 PM and Evening/Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 9 AM. For evening shifts, staff may sleep if not needed for healthcare. Live-in, full-summer nurses are strongly preferred. For non-live-in or partial summer candidates: Minimum commitment of 36 hours/week or at least two 12-hour day shifts and one night shift per week preferred – All Camp Nurses (LMPs) must be able to do overnight coverage. Priority shift assignments will go to candidates who live in and/or commit to a full summer. Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Currently certified as an RN or LPN in MA.
  • Must be able to provide proof of a physical within the last 18 months and proof that you are up to date on all required immunizations.
  • Under Massachusetts state law, our campus is a drug- and alcohol-free zone. No one, regardless of legal age, is permitted to consume alcohol or drugs including nicotine or tobacco products (including e-cigarettes) on the Becket-Chimney Corners properties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct healthcare services including: Sick call, injury assessment, medication administration, and inpatient care
  • Emergency response and escalation to Healthcare Consultant or Medical Advisor, EMS or outside medical providers as needed.
  • Serve as the primary medical authority on shift, making decisions within scope of licensure and job functions.
  • In coordination with other Medical Staff, review camper and staff medical forms prior to and during the summer
  • Supervise medication administration and ensure accurate Medication Administration Records (MARS)
  • Chart all medical care and ensure health records are complete, accurate, and well maintained in coordination with the Medical Office Manager.
  • Direct and support Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) in providing care within their scope
  • Communicate with camper families as appropriate
  • Coordinate with the Medical Office Manager and Camp Director regarding daily reports, trends, and follow-up care
  • Intake and manage medications on Opening Day and oversee medication data entry in UltraCamp.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked Health Care Center and communicate supply and equipment needs to the Medical Office Manager.
