Camp staff assist and lead groups of campers in various camp programs and activities each day. Camp staff are responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group. Camp Staff will provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our staff are the backbone of our summer programs here at the Y. We pride ourselves on giving staff an incredible amount of support during training and throughout the summer. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of college completed in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in working with children.
  • Experience hiring, training & supervising staff is preferred.
  • Demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication.
  • Experience working with youth in a group setting, and creating and implementing lesson plans.
  • Possess the skills necessary to provide safe, appropriate and fun activities.
  • Must be CPR and First Aid certified prior to employment.
  • Ability to communicate and listen effectively as well as a willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to learn and use YMCA specific software within 30 days of employment.
  • Capable of using basic Microsoft Office software.
  • Understanding of YMCA mission and cause is required.
  • Multi-lingual ability is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of work towards a graduate degree in youth development, psychology, social work, education or a related field.
  • At least 6 months experience working with children with special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and lead groups of campers in various camp programs and activities each day.
  • Ensure the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group.
  • Provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants.
