About The Position

This position is responsible for: Plans, coordinates, and directs the functions of the Conservatory Music program; ensures the quality of programs and the safety of youth at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to youth; and ensures a safe, positive experience for campers. Requirements

  • Ability to read and hear music notes.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Some physical requirements of the Camp Music Instructor position could be endurance, including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to manipulate music equipment and engage in activities.
  • Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and to work irregular hours, delivering a program at the facility available.
  • Operate with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.
  • Six months of experience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality music instruction to campers
  • Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes
  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and monitors the students' work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness.
