About The Position

The Camp Experience Content Creator reports to the Activities Manager and serves as the memory-keeper of camp. This role is responsible for capturing photos and videos of daily camp life, highlighting special moments across camp, and sharing those experiences with families and the broader community. The Camp Experience Content Creator manages content on our parent-sharing app Band, contributes to camp social media platforms such as Instagram, and ensures families feel connected to their camper’s experience. As a full member of the camp team, the Camp Experience Content Creator lives onsite at Camp Lakota, actively participating in camp life and supporting the counselor team. They collaborate closely with their assigned head counselor, co-counselors, and the wider camp staff—including counselors, activities staff, and property staff—to authentically document and share the camp story while upholding the spirit of Girl Scouts.

GSGLA Lakota Overnight Camp
The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles Camp Lakota is a state of the art, recently updated residential camp. Located just 90 miles from downtown Los Angeles, this premier camp site will host a full summer camp season. The camp will focus on providing a stand-out girl-led experience for campers of all ages and communities across our 6,272 square mile footprint. The camp offers a variety of specialty activities including a high ropes challenge course, horseback riding, swimming, and archery.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Completion of high school or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience with photography or documented classes.
• Documented experience teaching or interacting with youth programs.
• Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR prior to first day of work.
• Must submit health history form prior to first day of work.
• Must be committed to work the entire camp season and attend all pre-camp trainings.
• Ability to live onsite acting in an on-duty capacity for the duration of the camp season.
• Comply with state-mandated reporter training
• Attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned
• Must successfully complete a Live Scan and background check

Nice To Haves

• Documented experienced teaching or interacting in youth programming
• Education or training in Photography, Media Arts, Journalism, Marketing, or Communications preferred.
• Minimum one year (or one camp season) of experience in photography, videography, or digital content creation.
• Demonstrated ability to capture, edit, and organize high-quality photos and videos for promotional and archival use.
• Experience in storytelling through social media, newsletters, or visual campaigns.
• Comfortable working outdoors and engaging with youth and staff to highlight the camp experience authentically.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Camp Experience Content Creator.
• Ensures daily camp photography needs are met, including multiple photos daily of each camper at camp. Expectations of 50 pictures pre across various program spaces, no requirements to edit photos
• Uses expertise and skill to capture high-quality images.
• Manages the Band software to upload photos daily for parents to see.
• Goes through and assesses photos taken by staff for the use of Band and/or Instagram.
• Design and send newsletter every Wednesday by 3pm
• Posts daily Instagram stories and posts for caregiver engagement
• Be present and actively engaged with campers at the equestrian center and throughout camp to help foster the magic and spirit of the camp experience.
• Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities, and throughout the camp to meet the intended camper outcomes.
• Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
• Assure campers are always supervised. Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
• Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs.
• Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by the health care team.
• Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems and discuss with camp health manager and/or resident camp director when appropriate.
• Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to camp director.
• Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
• Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
• Set a good example to campers and others regarding general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
• Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
• Attend and prepare for daily meetings.
• Assist where needed on camper arrival and departure days. Provide check in/out support and provide outstanding customer service to families.
• Other duties as assigned.
