About The Position

Drumlin Farm Camp is seeking a trained medical professional to provide healthcare, respond to medical needs, provide first aid, administer medications, and manage the health center for our summer camp program. The ideal candidate would have experience providing medical care in a hospital, clinic, EMS, school or camp setting and feel comfortable being the primary healthcare provider at camp. We aim to promote positive youth development, stewardship for the environment, and a respectful and inclusive safe space for all our campers and staff.

Requirements

  • At least 20 years of age
  • Experience or certification in medical or emergency management such as EMT, AFA, Firefighter, Wilderness First Aid/ Responder, PA, Counseling/Nursing/Medical Student, etc.
  • Strong interest, education, or experience in Healthcare, Behavioral Health, Education, Nutrition, Counseling, Emergency Management or similar topics
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • At least one year of experience working with children and/or youth including, but not limited to, babysitting (volunteer or otherwise) and experience with younger siblings
  • Hold current First Aid and CPR certifications or participate in Mass Audubon provided training to obtain certification prior to the beginning of camp
  • Provide documented proof of immunity or vaccination record as mandated by MA DPH; complete camp health form and waiver
  • Willing to be outdoors for several hours per day in most weather conditions
  • Ability to physically access sanctuary terrain easily by foot
  • Ability to effectively interact with others, especially children, in camp’s youth-centered environment
  • Ability to adapt to changes in schedule and work assignment
  • Employees must successfully complete a CORI and SORI Background Check and a Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Administer healthcare to staff and campers in accordance with your level of training; administer medications as appropriate
  • Collect and review health records and communicate with families and relevant staff about questions and special needs
  • Maintain all healthcare paperwork including healthcare logs, incident logs, and other documentation
  • Provide healthcare training and support to program staff throughout the camp season
  • Maintain a clean, inviting healthcare center environment, including managing medication and supply inventories
  • Create and maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment for all campers and make independent safety decisions
  • Additional related duties may be requested
