About The Position

The Camp Director position serves as the primary staff member responsible for Umatilla Electric Cooperative’s Hydromania Summer Science Camps. In consultation with UEC staff, the Director plans, organizes and implements program activities and oversees daily operations. The Director ensures that campers are supervised at all times, and a safe and enjoyable camp environment is maintained. Applicants must complete and pass a criminal and background check to ensure the safety and security of the minor children.

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An Oregon Teacher’s License and valid Driver’s License are required.
  • Must have a clear MVR record and must maintain a current Driver’s License if they will be operating a vehicle.
  • First Aid and CPR certification must be completed upon hire or current certification to be demonstrated.
  • Applicants must complete and pass a criminal and background check including a sex offender search to ensure the safety and security of the minor children.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and supports a well-organized, comprehensive, fun camp program. Reviews curriculum and objectives with UEC staff.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the camp, including food service, transportation and scheduling.
  • Actively participate in all aspects of the campers’ day. Supervises and assists counselors in the daily program.
  • Schedules and coordinates field trips, presentations and other camp-related activities.
  • Knows and follows all safety and emergency procedure guidelines to assist in ensuring the safety of campers, staff, and guests, will observe camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques and discipline as needed.
  • Communicates with parents about camper experiences.
  • Ensures that camp staff understands and follows employment guidelines.
  • Keeps UEC staff informed of notable events or incidents.
  • Maintains accurate program records. Submit all required paperwork on time.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and fosters a spirit of cooperation in the workplace.
  • Performs other tasks as needed.
  • Conducts themselves in a manner that reflects well on UEC and contributes to harmonious relations with members, campers, and the general public.
  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor and/or manager.
