About The Position

The Camp Director at the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center is responsible for overseeing seasonal youth camp operations, providing recreational activities, and ensuring customer service excellence. This role involves supervising staff, coordinating camp activities, and maintaining compliance with local standards of care, all while fostering a safe and engaging environment for participants.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent plus one (1) year of relevant work experience.
• Experience working with youth, prior day camp experience, or experience programming camp activities preferred.
• Valid Class C Driver's License.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversees seasonal youth camp operations by coordinating activities and supervising related programs, field trips, and activities.
• Supervises personnel by assisting in training, observing and monitoring work tasks, evaluating performance, and scheduling employees for facility operations.
• Instructs and trains personnel to lead various activities including arts and crafts, games, and nature education.
• Works closely with the Recreation Program Supervisor to plan and coordinate activities and assists in other parks and recreation programs as needed.
• Provides customer service by maintaining positive relations with children, parents, staff, vendors, and the general public.
• Monitors the use of recreation equipment and ensures it is used appropriately and returned to its original location.
• Follows and enforces rules, policies, and procedures outlined in the City of Allen local standards of care and handbook.
• Ensures a high level of safety for participants and personnel during the program and administers basic first aid as necessary.
