About The Position

Do you love STEM, enjoy working with young people, and thrive in a hands-on, high-energy environment? The University of Southern Maine (USM) is excited to hire STEM Camp Counselors to join our dynamic outreach team for spring and summer camps. This is a rewarding opportunity to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence in students while gaining valuable leadership and teaching experience. As a STEM Camp Counselor, you’ll play a key role in the daily operation of USM’s STEM day camps, working with small groups of up to 16 campers ages 9–17. You’ll mentor campers as they explore science, technology, engineering, and math through interactive projects, collaborative challenges, and engaging educational activities. Counselors help deliver short instructional presentations, support hands-on learning, manage equipment and materials, and ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive camp environment. Some camps may include local walking field trips or transported off-site experiences.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and/or technology is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in education, sciences, and/or technology is desirable but not required.
