About The Position

The Camp Counselor position is a seasonal role within the Village of Wellington's Parks & Recreation Department, responsible for assisting in the supervision of campers during the summer camp program. The primary focus is on ensuring the safety, health, and welfare of all camp participants while providing a supportive and engaging environment. This role is designed to offer on-the-job training for individuals with basic skills, working under close supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • College level coursework in physical education, recreation, athletics, or related experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License.
  • Completion of CPR and First Aid training preferred, with training provided if not certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a camp or recreational setting.
  • Knowledge of first responder response procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors campers' actions and activities to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the safe and effective operating conditions of all equipment used during program delivery.
  • Addresses chronic misconduct to prevent injuries to campers, staff, or the public.
  • Reports all accidents per Village policy and provides first responder response in the event of injury.
