About The Position

The Camp Counselor at The Salvation Army Northwoods Camp is responsible for developing and supervising a group of campers aged 6-17 during their summer camp experience. This role involves leading daily activities, ensuring the health and safety of campers, and fostering a positive and supportive environment. The position requires living on-site for the duration of the camp, which runs from mid-June through July, and includes participation in spiritual activities.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children, preferred.
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be willing to participate in religious activities.
  • Must pass background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead an assigned group of campers in daily activities (classes, free time, meals, programming).
  • Support campers in following rules and expectations, providing guidance and positive reinforcement.
  • Monitor campers and program areas, ensuring the health and safety of all.
  • Develop and maintain positive rapport with campers and colleagues, teaching and modeling positive relational skills.
  • Support and actively participate in all assigned camp programs and activities.
  • Attend spiritual activities and facilitate nightly devotions and prayers with assigned campers.
