About The Position

The Camp Counselor at Clemson University is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing various outdoor programs and experiences for participants. This role emphasizes the safety and well-being of campers while engaging them in recreational activities such as canoeing, climbing, arts & crafts, and more. Counselors will work closely with camp directors to create schedules and ensure a positive camp experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and teaching all components of the assigned programs and recreational areas.
  • Lead participants in special recreational events and activities.
  • Work with camp directors to create the weekly schedule for camp groups.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all participants in their care.
  • Communicate with parents about participants' experiences and report any concerns to camp leadership.
  • Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the program.
  • Maintain accurate program records including incident reports and daily logs.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down program areas and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory and report any equipment failures or needs.
