Camp Counselor - Seasonal
About The Position
CITY OF NOVI seeks Camp Lakeshore and Camp PowerPlay Counselors (June-August) for full-time positions charged with providing a quality experience for children ages 6- 12. The position will work with a staff of 7 to 16 to provide 50 to 75 campers a week to provide a safe, growing, fun camp experience and work with other staff in a supportive manner. Always conduct yourself in a personable and "professional" manner as befits a member of our staff, and an employee of the City of Novi. Staff will greet campers and families upon arrival and orientate them to camp; establish with camper's camp jobs, rules, and emergency procedures. Staff will work together to plan, organize, and implement a balanced recreation program to include, but not limited to, the following activities: Performing Arts, Nature Activities, Creative Crafts, Special Events, Instructional Sports, Field Trips, Sports and Games, Special Programs, Activities listed on your sites plan. Participate in all camp functions; attend all staff trainings and meetings. Keep accurate records and submit reports that are properly completed, in a timely fashion. Report any suspicion of child abuse to your supervisor and discuss it with no one else. Help where needed in any area of camp to contribute to the successful operation of camp. This position will report to the Head Counselor and the Recreation Supervisor. Trainging and Camp: Orientation in late May/early June. 37-40 hours per week throught the summer, last days are in August. Pay: $16.50 per hour Interviews will take place during school spring brewaks and/or on Saturdays.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Have experience working with children
- Ability to work in the out of doors comfortably
- Must be enthusiastic and dependable
- CPR & First Aid certification required (provided by the department.)
