About The Position

Plans, organizes, implements, leads, and assist camp programs and activities; does related work as required. The Camp Counselor shall be responsible for the organization and leadership of the camp programs. Responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the day to day camp activities specific to the program.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Must be able to make good decision following Park District policy and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Enthusiasm and passion or good work and continuous improvement.
  • The individual must have strong customer service, and organizational skills along with the ability to interact with parents, campers and other staff in a professional, courteous and helpful manner.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs, and assists in the development and execution of programs and activities.
  • Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing with supervisor, staff and parents.
  • Plans age-appropriate activities for students ages kindergarten thru 8th grade.
  • Compiles a daily log for use in disciplinary matters, if needed.
  • Supervises the daily maintenance of classroom including sanitizing tables and toys, putting supplies and toys in designated places.
  • Use appropriate and positive discipline with campers.
  • Attendance at staff meetings.
  • Takes a daily attendance, ensure all children attending are on roster for each program.
  • Service a daily snack, following all safety guidelines.
  • Responsible to keep accurate account of all supplies and equipment in classroom.
  • Obtains classroom supplies as needed for camp.
  • Supervises groups of campers on fieldtrips for camp, including in-house events at pool and garden.
