About The Position

Act as a representative of North Central College and the Office of Conference Services and Camps by maintaining professional attire and behavior with campers and staff, and by following all College and camp rules. Leading camp activities and drills relevant to assigned camp. Provide guidance, motivation and support to campers. Assist the Camp Director with the implementation of routines, schedules, and procedures for all camp operations. Enforce all camp rules and procedures. These rules should include the camper’s code of conduct, safety and security measures, and any physical guidelines specific to your assigned camp. Be a positive and appropriate role model to campers in regard to general camp procedures and practices. Work collaboratively with the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director(s), and Camp Counselor(s). Be a mandated reporter for the “Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.” Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a North Central College student in good academic standing
  • Excellent knowledge of North Central College
  • Strong knowledge of the subject matter being demonstrated or taught
  • Ability to communicate effectively with campers of diverse skills, abilities, and backgrounds
  • Ability to instruct, supervise, and evaluate campers
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Camp Director, the Office of Conference Services and Camps, and additional North Central College offices
  • Proficiency, wherewithal and knowledge of principles and processes for providing high-quality service to both internal and external constituents of the College
  • Available to work during the summer semester
