About The Position

Team Sheeper is offering an exciting opportunity to lead the Camp Program. This position reports to the Head of Camps and the Manager of Youth Programming. The Camp Lead is a role model for camp participants, counselors, and all team members. We're looking for someone who exemplifies integrity and the other key characteristics we expect of all our employees: commitment, respect, responsibility, and cooperation. This is a full-time position for the Summer. Camp Lead shifts are 8:00 am-5:00 pm Monday-Friday. The ideal candidate for this position would commit to most of the summer, if not all. Responsibilities also include interacting with parents and their children, and the public. This includes problem-solving, information and guidance, and top-notch professional communication.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Camp Counselor, or working with groups of children in some other capacity
  • Must be self-disciplined, responsible, alert, assertive, courteous, and professional behavior
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be punctual
  • Must have demonstrated leadership experience in or, responsible for teaching, coaching other programs
  • Fantastic communicator with demonstrated experience in working with a wide variety of audiences including, the public, staff and management
  • Solid people management and supervisory experience
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Lifeguard certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Organize and ensure a smooth and safe camp in a fun, exciting, and spirited environment
  • Frequently check the inventory of camp supplies, and request orders when necessary
  • Supervise camp counselors by setting expectations, managing performance, and giving timely feedback
  • Organize and assist with set-up and cleanup
  • Promote and demonstrate safe work practices, suggest and implement procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee, and camper safety, and risk avoidance
  • Lead and assist counselor training
  • Provide feedback to the Head of Camps regarding curriculum and activities to enhance the camp experience
  • Respond to camp-related incidents and injuries, complete documentation, and report such incidents to the Head of Camps or Manager of Youth Programming.
  • Review and investigate complaints with collaboration and direction from the Head of Camps
  • Complete other responsibilities and duties as assigned or needed
