About The Position

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under supervision, supervises Camp Counselors and Recreation Leaders who provide recreational activities for children during the operation of day camp activities in the Chicago Park District parks. Performs related duties as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Supervises Camp Counselors and Recreation Leaders responsible for day camp activities at various Chicago Park District parks. Creates curriculum for camp activities. Liaison with Park Supervisors and staff. Liaison with security personnel, lifeguards, police relating to camp activities, public functions and field trips. Ensures the safety and well-being of the children. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience: Current enrollment at an accredited college or university for a Bachelor's Degree. Bachelor's Degree preferred. 1 - 2 years of experience working with children is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience working with children is required. The ability to stand, sit, bend and kneel frequently. As a seasonal Chicago Park District employee in a position covered by the District’s Agreement with SEIU Local 73, eligible employees receive the following benefits: After three seasons in three consecutive years, 1 day of personal leave at the commencement of each quarter, accrued on a pro rata basis. After three seasons in three consecutive years, 2 days of sick leave at the commencement of each quarter, accrued on a pro rata basis. Free Admission to most Chicago Museums Rate of Pay: $28.29 per hour Union: SEIU Local 73 Career Service EEO: Paraprofessional FLSA: Nonexempt

Requirements

  • Current enrollment at an accredited college or university for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience working with children is required.
  • Experience working with children is required.
  • The ability to stand, sit, bend and kneel frequently.
