About The Position

CAMP CANTEEN SPECIALIST/HEAD HOUSEKEEPER Location: Camp Hidden Lake, Lexington, Mississippi Position Type: Temporary Full-Time Pay Rate: $400.00 per week This position is responsible for: Plans, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the canteen and assists in the office under the office manager; maintains stock of drinks and snacks; conducts inventory of all clothing, food, and beverages. Plans, schedules, instructs, supervises, and monitors the day-to-day general housekeeping of the camp facilities; ensures all rooms and offices are well maintained and cleaned.

Requirements

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Some physical requirements of the position include endurance, which involves activities such as climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
• Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to manipulate canteen/housekeeping equipment and perform various activities.
• Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience working with children in a camp environment is preferred, and
• Three years of experience performing housekeeping work, with at least one year of lead worker or supervisory experience preferred, or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• CPR and First Aid Certified

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cash received at the canteen
• Supervises other staff members assigned to work in the canteen.
• Ensures all housekeeping equipment remains in proper working order and in compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards.
• Maintains an inventory of all Salvation Army cleaning supplies.
• Leads other camp housekeepers in the proper methods and procedures for performing housekeeping work.
• Cleans bedrooms, washes, stores, and distributes linens; ensures the cleanliness of the camp daily.
