About The Position

Camp Assistant Supervisor – Salomon Farm Gain leadership, teaching, and program management experience you can highlight on your resume-perfect for future roles in summer camps, youth programs, recreation centers, or outdoor education! What You'll Do Assist the Camp Supervisor in day-to-day operations, supervise counselors and campers, coordinate activities, and ensure a safe, fun, and educational environment. Help develop programs, manage logistics, and gain hands-on leadership experience that will strengthen your resume. Key Responsibilities Support and train 20–30 camp counselors; step in as Supervisor when needed Assist with camper supervision, discipline, and daily activities including farm chores, outdoor exploration, and games Help plan and coordinate camp schedules, programs, and special events Maintain facilities, supplies, records, and communicate with parents and staff Operate camp equipment like tractors and bubble machines; ensure safety and smooth operations What You Bring – Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in education, environmental education, recreation, or related field preferred 2+ years experience in recreation, education, or outdoor programs preferred (or equivalent combination) Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills Comfortable hiking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors Preferred Certifications First Aid, CPR, and AED (American Heart Association) within 2 weeks of hire Valid Indiana driver's license Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of livestock care, gardening, and outdoor program facilitation Ability to communicate effectively while teaching outdoor skills Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities; can handle unexpected situations Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne Develop leadership, teaching, and program management skills while making a positive impact on campers' summer experiences. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, environmental education, recreation, or related field preferred
• 2+ years experience in recreation, education, or outdoor programs preferred (or equivalent combination)
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
• Comfortable hiking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors
• Knowledge of livestock care, gardening, and outdoor program facilitation
• Ability to communicate effectively while teaching outdoor skills

Nice To Haves
