About The Position

Join a lean, agile team at the forefront of human-computer interaction as we pioneer the next generation of intelligent eyewear. Our mission is to deliver a seamless and intuitive visual experience, and the camera system is the heart of that vision. We are searching for a Camera Systems Engineer to be the technical pillar for our imaging technology, owning everything from sensor selection to final image quality. In this role, you will be the hands-on leader who defines our camera system. You will operate at the critical intersection of optics, electrical engineering, and firmware to overcome the unique challenges of building a world-class camera in a miniaturized form factor.

Requirements

  • A seasoned engineer with 8+ years of experience in designing, testing, or building high-volume camera modules.
  • A strong background and proven track record in electrical engineering and firmware for camera systems.
  • Extensive experience with CMOS image sensors and the image signal processing (ISP) pipeline, with a deep understanding of image quality metrics and tuning.
  • Highly proficient with data analysis using tools like Python or MATLAB, and able to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Can work independently, drive initiatives, and expertly manage external resources and critical vendor relationships.
  • Extensive experience with high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing and are intimately familiar with test and production processes.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years of experience in camera hardware development.
  • Familiarity with human perception of vision and image quality metrics.
  • Experience with advanced camera system architectures and novel imaging technologies.
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal technical owner for our camera systems, collaborating with vendors to define and validate module specifications that meet aggressive targets for miniaturization and performance.
  • Perform hands-on characterization and experiments to assess key imaging parameters such as aperture, exposure, and ISP settings, driving the system toward optimal performance and world-class image quality.
  • Investigate and characterize real-world imaging challenges like motion blur, using the findings to make data-driven decisions that influence the camera's specification and system-level architecture.
  • Establish yourself as the team's authority on image quality, taking full responsibility for color reproduction, ISP tuning, and all aspects of the final visual performance.
  • Architect the firmware interface between the camera module and the main processor, defining control for sensor features like binning, region of interest (ROI), and low-power states, while overseeing the implementation process.
  • Own the validation, characterization, and debugging of camera hardware at both the module and integrated product levels, driving the resolution of complex technical challenges.

Benefits

  • 401k matching
  • 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental benefits
  • Unlimited PTO and sick time
  • Flexible spending account matching (medical FSA)
