About The Position

The CALL Livestream Course Specialist provides technical support for the Calvin Academy for Lifelong Learning by setting up, running, and closing down livestreamed courses. This position ensures high-quality audio, video, and livestream reliability for each class session and provides presenters with basic technical assistance. This is a hands-on, in‑person position that requires consistent availability Tuesday through Thursday during daytime hours aligned with the CALL course schedule.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have experience with:
  • Livestreaming platforms (Zoom Meetings/Webinars or similar)
  • OBS Studio or other livestream/encoding software
  • Cameras (DSLR, PTZ, or similar), audio interfaces, mixers, microphones
  • Basic audio concepts: gain staging, avoiding echo/feedback, mic placement
  • Recording workflows, file formats, and simple video editing
  • Wired networking preferences and basic troubleshooting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Comfortable supporting instructors with varying levels of technical skill
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work Tuesday–Thursday during daytime hours , on campus only

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience operating livestreams, webinars, or similar events
  • Experience in an educational or lifelong learning environment
  • Familiarity with PTZ camera control, multi-source switching, and small-room audio
  • Understanding of accessibility practices and media privacy considerations

Responsibilities

  • Livestream Operations Setup and operate livestream equipment for CALL courses, including cameras, microphones, capture devices, and livestream software.
  • Monitor audio and video throughout each session to ensure quality and resolve issues in real time.
  • Instructor Support Conduct pre-session equipment and audio checks with presenters.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting for microphone, slide, and connection issues.
  • Support presenters with platform controls and in-room technology.
  • Content & Equipment Management Record and upload sessions following established CALL naming and archiving standards.
  • Complete minor post-session tasks such as trimming recordings and organizing files.
  • Coordination & Documentation Communicate weekly with CALL staff to confirm course times and room needs.
  • Document issues, resolutions, and required follow-up to support continuous improvement.
