About The Position

River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient). River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented ADMISSIONS CALL SPECIALIST to Receive intake calls and individual/ family walk-ins with compassion, empathy, a sense of service and urgency, and to insure each person receives an appropriate assessment by intake or referral. Thorough and accurate documentation of calls and other intake related paperwork is a critical component of the job. Coordinating aspects of the admissions process. This includes but is not limited to efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, processing of referrals for possible admission, knowledge of and communication with referral sources and customers who present for assessment. Additional responsibilities include insurance verification, patient registration process, vitals, wanding, patient observations, scheduling of evaluations, admissions processing, and other non-clinical duties as assigned by admissions leadership team. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field along with clinical knowledge and experience required.
  • Previous experience in a human service, social service, psychiatric, or mental health setting, performing administrative duties, crisis intervention, telephonic triage and inquiries, and customer service.
  • Ability to set priorities and work with others in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and over the phone;

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Preferred.
  • Crisis intervention training or experience on a Crisis Line or psychiatric setting preferred;
