Visit us online at: https://www.aikenregional.com The Admissions & Referral Representative is responsible for assisting in the process of receiving, scheduling and/or referring inquiry calls. Assist the Admissions Coordinators, Admission Nurses, and Manager with coordinating assessments, initiating Intake paperwork and insurance information. Work with Patient Access Supervisor and Manager of Assessment and Referrals to ensure smooth transition into the admission process. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • Experience: Experience working in a hospital intake department or business office preferred.
  • License or Registration Requirements: BLS required. CNA preferred.
  • Training: CPI Training must be completed within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Receive referral calls, obtain minimal demographic information, and refer the call to the appropriate source or schedule an assessment.
  • Process all requests for information and external referrals.
  • Assist in arranging for admission of patients, including alerting the business office staff to begin the verification of benefits, initiating calls to physicians and other related tasks as directed by the Case Manager.
  • Determine what Releases of Information are needed, and process them accordingly, per policy.
  • Assist in obtaining needed records and information.
  • Assist in maintaining all statistics; provide support to the Outcome Study, and other data, as assigned.
  • Maintains good communication with staff.
  • Maintains log of received calls and disposition of the calls, and other informational tools as
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers, practicing good standards of customer service.
  • Have the ability to communicate clearly and see well enough to read charts, treatment plans and typewritten materials, hear well enough to detect noises on the unit
  • Be able to remain calm while working efficiently under stressful conditions.
  • Must possess good communication skills, to include writing techniques for reports and appeals and verbal presentations for telephone interactions and training seminars.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position to include both sitting for long periods of time and walking the grounds and units of the facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
