The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual to provide communication support services within the CVSL RCPG & Cardiac Rehab department. This role involves a variety of clerical and administrative tasks aimed at enhancing patient access and ensuring a high standard of service delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records while adhering to established protocols and procedures.

  • Provides communication support services including general clerical, wayfinding, technical support, provider/service referral, patient registration, and scheduling services.
  • Answers a large volume of inbound inquiries by phone, email, and other electronic interfaces.
  • Follows prescribed protocol and Standard Operating Procedures to schedule patient appointments and resolve patient issues.
  • Ensures appropriate use and distribution of Electronic Medical Record information.
  • Makes independent decisions to act outside of the protocol to transfer, refer or resolve emergent situations.
  • Accurately uses business systems and/or software to navigate, interpret, analyze, report, troubleshoot, schedule appointments, register patients, and document problem resolutions.
  • Researches, resolves, and documents non-routine paging issues impacting patient care.
  • Independently initiates outbound communications to achieve and maintain optimal patient access targets.
  • Monitors appointment schedules, systems, and resources, providing feedback to improve efficiency.
  • Keeps abreast of regulations and compliance requirements and applies best practices.
  • Attends and contributes to meetings and participates in training sessions.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of customer service experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
