About The Position

The Call Center Representative position at UC Health involves managing emergency and non-emergency calls, utilizing computer-aided dispatch software to coordinate responses from public safety and emergency services. This role is critical in ensuring effective communication and support during emergencies, while also maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Representatives will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring sound judgment and the ability to multitask effectively.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, some college preferred.
  • Previous emergency or security dispatch experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask consistently in a busy environment.
  • Proficient with personal computers and Windows-based applications.
  • Obtain CPR/AED certification within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in emergency dispatch or security dispatch is preferred.
  • Some college education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the nature and location of calls requesting public safety, fire, medical, or other emergency services.
  • Use computer aided dispatch software (CAD) to dispatch, track, and monitor appropriate responses for service.
  • Receive and screen telephone and radio calls, collecting information regarding emergencies to relay to safety personnel.
  • Document critical information to maintain the location and status of Public Safety units in the field.
  • Exercise independent judgment to determine priorities for service response according to established procedures.
  • Coordinate on-site activities of safety forces to ensure efficient support services.
  • Notify and coordinate responses with outside agencies such as police, fire units, and disaster management personnel.
  • Enter, update, and retrieve information from various sources, including field officers.
  • Operate various communications equipment including radio consoles, telephones, and computer systems.
  • Monitor alarm systems and closed circuit cameras at multiple UC Health facilities.
  • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service and prioritize them accordingly.
  • Provide assistance to other police and fire agencies as requested.
  • Serve as a liaison to relay radio transmissions from field personnel to appropriate staff or agencies.
  • Monitor access control systems and relay weather-related problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all responsibilities per policy.
