Covetrus is has more than 5,000 employees, serving over 100,000 customers around the globe. This position supports a fast-paced compounding pharmacy with a dynamic and energetic team of individuals. We are currently seeking a Verification Pharmacist for our Closed Door Pharmacy. This position will utilize his/her skills and experiences to uphold pharmacy standards for reviewing prescriptions, dispensing, record keeping and quality assurance programs. A pharmacist will be able to demonstrate leadership by coaching and mentoring pharmacy team members.
Requirements
- Position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and a current Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Multiple state licenses preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Veterinary Compounding experience preferred.
- Experience with PCAB accreditation preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret veterinarian orders and prescriptions for appropriateness to ensure that overdoses or under-doses have not been prescribed and that interactions, incompatibilities or toxic compounds will not result from combination of medications.
- Manages prescription work flow process, correcting internal and external errors, obtaining prescription documentation, and documenting patient profiles
- Will verify prescriptions to pets in accordance with policy and in conformance with regulations and laws dealing with the class of prescription; counsels’ patients (pet owners) about their medications and maintains an accurate, up to date profile.
- Verify the work performed by support personnel, which includes pet drug data entry.
- The ability to focus on tasks and quickly complete them is important to being efficient in this role.
- Ability to use multiple data entry systems, knowledge of prescription prescribing, and multitask between job functions.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical calculations and compounded preparations is preferred.
