About The Position

AECOM is seeking a California Traffic Engineering State Manager to be based in Orange, Oakland, or Los Angeles, California. The position involves coordinating and providing technical expertise for mid- to large-size projects, leading technical client relationships, and playing a major role in business development. The manager will oversee traffic engineering staff across California, lead traffic engineering projects, and ensure compliance with plan approvals for Caltrans and other major agencies. Strong communication skills are essential for discussing projects with various stakeholders and writing technical reports. The role requires a self-motivated individual capable of multitasking and providing guidance to engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science plus ten (10) years of relevant experience and demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • California PE or TE license.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid- to large-size projects.
  • Leads technical client relationships and plays a major role in selling.
  • Leads discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.
  • Leads technical business development work.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Approves and signs off on work.
  • Acts as a leader in one or more areas of technology.
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large, complex projects.
  • Manages the traffic engineering staff on a daily basis throughout California.
  • Leads traffic engineering projects and traffic design tasks throughout California.
  • Leads marketing and proposal efforts for traffic engineering projects.
  • Responsible for plan approvals for Caltrans and other major agencies.
  • Supports a wide range of traffic engineering projects for roadway, freeway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
  • Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered and applies innovative design solutions.
  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and coaching to engineers or technicians.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and preferable Project).
  • Skilled in MicroStation and AutoCAD software.
