About The Position

As a Field Organizing Manager at Vot-ER, you will lead and support volunteer teams and individual healthcare professionals, community health workers (CHWs), social workers, and health professional students who are essential to expanding civic engagement and voter access. In this role, you will implement a statewide organizing strategy that prioritizes communities facing the greatest barriers to voting, recruits new health professionals and institutional partners, connects them to Vot-ER programs, and mobilizes them to bring nonpartisan civic engagement into their workplaces and communities. You may also directly manage interns and health professional volunteers as needed. Working closely with staff across Vot-ER, you will help build healthier communities powered by an inclusive democracy. Candidates must be located in California to be considered for this position.

  • Ability to travel to sites to meet with partners, institutions, and providers/individuals monthly.
  • Participate in Vot-ER wide retreats and gatherings a minimum of twice per year.
  • This is a remote, full-time role. Vot-ER offers a flexible, remote work environment. We have core working hours of 12 pm to 5 pm eastern time, Monday through Friday. During those hours, all employees are expected to be available for meetings and collaboration. Outside of those core hours, each employee sets their own schedule, while recognizing that due to the collaborative nature of the Vot-ER work and mission, employees will often arrange meetings outside of core Vot-ER hours.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and support healthcare providers, students, and associations across California, and occasionally in other states, to lead nonpartisan voter engagement in their institutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, community health centers, universities, professional associations, and community partners to expand Vot-ER’s reach.
  • Execute a state organizing strategy that grows participation in Vot-ER programs and increases voter access for patients and communities.
  • Coordinate and coach cohorts of health professionals and students participating in Vot-ER programs including the Civic Health Fellowship, Healthy Democracy Campaign, Community Civic Engagement Program, and Civic Health Month.
  • Lead ongoing intake calls and onboarding for new health professionals, including training on having voting conversations, using Vot-ER tools, and securing organizational buy-in.
  • Organize and facilitate presentations, workshops, and trainings to educate and mobilize healthcare audiences around civic engagement and voter access.
  • Utilize text outreach, social media, email, and professional networks to recruit participants and promote Vot-ER programs statewide.
  • Support and occasionally lead cross-state organizing efforts when needed.

  • Collaborate with the Vot-ER team to share learnings, refine strategy, and contribute to program development.
  • Stay informed on voting rights, state election policies, and health equity issues to provide accurate, relevant information to partners.
  • Lead and participate in Vot-ER’s Get Out the Vote efforts including phonebanks, textbanks, and voter readiness outreach in California and nationally as needed.
