Requirements

  • AA or bachelor's degree (or credit equivalent) in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or a similar discipline OR the 45 clock hours Child Development, birth through school-age, and the 45 clock hours Curriculum for School Age Care.
  • 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public.
  • CPR and First Aid training certificate.
  • Basic Health and Safety training certificate.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training certificate.
  • 400 hours of experience working with School Age children in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Director in the operations of the before and after care program for school age children.
  • Implement activities to ensure the Caliday mission, vision and values are upheld.
  • Provide support and direction to the teacher assistant.
  • Manage the program space, ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures.
  • Provide a welcoming and friendly environment for all children, parents and visitors.
  • Implement age-appropriate and stimulating activities in accordance with the provided Caliday curriculum.
  • Assist and supervise children during all activities; counsel children as needed using Conscious Discipline and appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on program happenings.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with team, parents and school community.
  • Ensure that the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom environment is appropriately maintained.
  • Identify opportunities and/or problems in the program and work with other team members to resolve.
  • Maintain yearly certification requirements including Continuing Education Credits.
