Must be able to Interpret schematics/wiring diagrams and technical manuals. Utilize test equipment, oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters and spectrum analyzers, physical dimensional and numerous types of Test, Measure and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). Must be proficient in the use of standards, diagrams, sketches, manuals, manufacturer's specifications and instructions used in the calibration industry. Performs calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and adjustment in the laboratory or in-place on physical/mechanical Test, Measure and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) such as, but not limited to: pressure, vacuum, liquid and gas flow, mass, length, optical, temperature, torque, force, vibration, dimensional tools and tachometry calibrations. Interprets and utilizes NIST and/or other International Standards Organization (ISO) or other reports and corrections for any level of calibration and measurement. Maintains current knowledge of all physical equipment and measurement techniques to perform state-of-the-art measurements with minimum engineering direction. Perform the following duties in coordination with the Metrology laboratory and/or in-place functions: recommend calibration/repair techniques and calibration/repair systems for new types of instruments; recommend changes to update existing calibration and/or repair stations by determining substitution of instruments, supporting equipment, and methods; determine range, accuracy and uncertainty requirements of laboratory equipment necessary to perform valid calibrations and/or repairs; inform supervision of any deficiencies in measurement and/or repair capability and recommend necessary changes to meet requirements. Assist in the generation and proof-testing of new calibration procedures, reviews, and updates of old procedures to reflect new technology and/or equipment improvements. Recommend new calibration and/or repair techniques and substitution of instruments and components. Assist engineers in the development of uncertainty analysis, reports, and check standards for accreditation in measurement parameters. Collect, test and check standard data to meet accreditation standards. Prepare trend charts for calibration reference and check standards. Perform accreditation testing on standards and artifacts. Prepare for and participate in Government and/or customer and commercial audits, assessments, such as the MIP (Measurement Intercomparison Program), MAP (Measurement Audit Program), and accreditation audit programs. Identify instruments which can no longer be maintained within specified tolerances or operate throughout a specified range and recommend appropriate solution such as retirement, duration, limited performance, etc. Assist engineering in troubleshooting of instrument problems. Perform necessary liaison with Company and/or vendor personnel to investigate instrument malfunctions.
