The Calibration Technician II uses specialized tools, fixtures, instrumentation, and software to calibrate Sea-Bird’s industry-leading oceanographic instruments. This role ensures each product meets accuracy, quality, and performance standards by correlating instrument readings to known scientific standards. This position is on-site at our Bellevue, WA facility and is part of the Production Department.

Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of related experience in calibration, testing, or electro-mechanical environments.
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures consistently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn new software and internal tools quickly.
  • Familiarity with the instruments and calibration tools used in production environments.
  • Ability to willing to pivot according to business needs, learn and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Using proprietary software to access assignments, initiate/complete calibrations, and track instrument and equipment performance.
  • Operating calibration hardware such as: Perform Temperature, pressure, air&water, lights (indoor and out door) calibrations to both production and Service instruments of ACS, CSTAR, CROVER, and Radiometer units. Hydraulic pressure testers Ovens, chillers, calibration baths Pressure vessels and related tools
  • Interpreting calibration results and evaluating sensor performance independently without oversight.
  • Following detailed procedures, quality standards, and delivery requirements to ensure consistent, accurate calibrations.
  • Documenting work and ensuring equipment is properly maintained.
