CALIBRATION TECHNICIAN II/III Based onsite at Rocket Lab's global headquarters in Long Beach, CA, the Calibration Technician II/III will be a highly skilled professional responsible for performing advanced calibration, scheduling, troubleshooting, and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment across multiple facilities. This individual will ensure compliance with industry standards, manage calibration schedules using Rocket Lab’s systems, and support the inspection team by leveraging their expertise in metrology and precision measurement. This Level II/III role is critical to ensuring the quality and reliability of Rocket Lab’s inspection processes. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical expertise, scheduling experience across multiple facilities, and proficiency with systems like Jira, LN, and Coal. (Please note: this position can be hired on as a Calibration Technician II or Calibration Technician III level)

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in calibration and metrology, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proven experience in scheduling and managing calibration activities across multiple facilities.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Jira , LN , and Coal for calibration scheduling and workflow management.
  • Strong understanding of measurement tools, techniques, and standards.
  • Proficiency with calibration software and systems.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
  • 5+ years of experience with advanced expertise in calibration and metrology preferably in aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proven experience in scheduling and managing calibration activities across multiple facilities.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Jira , LN , and Coal for calibration scheduling and workflow management.
  • Strong understanding of measurement tools, techniques, and standards.
  • Proficiency with calibration software and systems.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and tolerances.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in calibration/metrology (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a high-precision environment (e.g., aerospace or space systems).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Familiarity with environmental testing equipment calibration and advanced measurement techniques.
  • Experience leading calibration programs or initiatives.
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced calibration, verification, and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, torque wrenches, pressure gauges, environmental testing equipment, etc.).
  • Schedule and coordinate calibration activities across multiple facilities, ensuring timely compliance with quality standards and operational needs.
  • Utilize systems such as Jira , LN , and Coal to manage calibration schedules, workflows, and documentation.
  • Ensure all equipment meets required tolerances and specifications, adhering to strict quality standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts for complex calibration-related issues.
  • Maintain detailed calibration records and documentation in compliance with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians (Level I).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve calibration challenges.
  • Support internal and external audits related to calibration processes and standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the calibration and inspection processes.
