About The Position

SP Industries Inc. is expanding our team in Pocomoke City, MD and have an immediate opening for a Calibration Specialist. In this role, the right candidate will perform calibration services for customer supplied products and or manufactured products, normally thermometers, testing new incoming products for quality compliance. This is a 1st shift position, Monday - Friday with hours 7am - 3:30pm.

Requirements

  • Previous working experience in a production environment
  • Associates degree preferred with five years experience, or high school diploma with some post secondary training and equivalent on the job work experience of at least three to five years.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Attention to detail with good organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills: Familiarity with data management software to record and track calibration details.
  • Technical knowledge: Understanding of measurement principles, different types of instruments, and their applications
  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct

Responsibilities

  • Following established procedures to test and adjust measuring instruments like gauges, meters, scales, and other specialized equipment against known reference standards to include equipment specifications.
  • Recording calibration results, identifying deviations from standards, and documenting findings in detailed reports.
  • Identifying and resolving issues affecting instrument accuracy, including potential malfunctions or environmental factors.
  • Performing routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on calibration equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Adhering to industry regulations and quality standards related to calibration practices.
  • Maintaining accurate calibration records and documentation for traceability purposes.
  • Providing training to other personnel on proper usage and care of calibrated equipment.
