About The Position

The position involves traveling to customer sites for calibration, repair, and technical support, reading quality control manuals, evaluating calibration jobs, and managing repair/calibration testing projects. The role requires a strong understanding of measurement science and the ability to develop calibration methods and techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from a four year college university.
  • Six years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Travels to customer site for calibration, repair, and technical support when necessary.
  • Reads quality control manual and testing specifications to obtain data to test or calibrate specific devices.
  • Evaluates calibration/repair jobs.
  • Sets controls to regulate factors and activates test or calibration equipment.
  • Observes readings and performance of device or instrument to identify functional defects and determine calibration requirements.
  • Adjusts calibration mechanisms to obtain specified operational performance.
  • Applies sealing compound on calibration mechanism to prevent readjustment of settings and loss of calibration.
  • Rejects malfunctioning devices and repairs or routes devices to specified department for rework or salvaging of parts.
  • Prepares calibration certificates and data reports.
  • Redesigns or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors.
  • Selects and installs accessories.
  • Processes required service report paperwork, including database maintenance.
  • Locates and creates calibration procedures as necessary.
  • Assists in developing new product capabilities and standards.
  • Manages repair/calibration testing projects to ensure completion by targeted completion date.
  • Provides training and guidance as necessary.
  • Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science.
  • Directs engineering, quality, and laboratory personnel in design, manufacture, evaluation, and calibration of measurement standards.
  • Advises others on methods of resolving measurement problems.
  • Takes a leadership role in Service/Quality Initiative; continually improves processes.
