Founding Calculus Teacher - BASIS Leander (Opening Fall 2026)! Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major or significant coursework in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A profound passion for the subject matter and an ability to convey complex mathematical concepts in a clear, compelling, and engaging manner.
  • Exceptional classroom management skills and an ability to create an organized, highly focused, and positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative spirit and a commitment to working as part of a dynamic, founding team.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree is highly desirable.
  • Prior teaching experience in Calculus at the middle and/or high school level is strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching advanced placement (AP) or honors-level courses is a significant asset.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach advanced mathematics courses, including Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus, using an engaging, content-rich approach.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a classroom environment that encourages problem-solving, logical reasoning, and a love for mathematics.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Develop and administer robust assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Founding Team Collaboration: Play a pivotal role in establishing the school's culture, contributing to school-wide initiatives, and collaborating with fellow founding teachers to create a cohesive and supportive academic community.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and school-wide meetings, continually seeking to improve instructional practices.
  • Student Support: Serve as an advisor or mentor, guiding students in their academic and personal growth within the BASIS model.
