About The Position

The Student Externship Program is designed for BSN nursing students who are eager to gain hands-on experience while developing critical skills necessary for their future careers. You will have the unique chance to work alongside an experienced preceptor for 6 weeks, which will significantly advance your nursing skills and knowledge. Through this immersive experience, you will gain valuable exposure to patient care, nursing processes, and interdisciplinary teamwork. Participating in this externship can serve as an excellent preparatory step toward entering a Nurse Residency Program. In collaboration with CSUEB, this immersive program allows you to earn 1 unit of academic credit upon completion. Please note that externs will not be employed by John Muir Health during this program; instead, credit is awarded through CSUEB. We believe this externship will be an invaluable step in your professional journey and look forward to the possibility of having you join us.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in CSUEB BSN nursing program in good standing and completed semester 3 or semester 4
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification - Required
• Desire to learn and develop skills in patient care and nursing practice
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
