About The Position

The purpose of this position is to keep coops/cages repaired ensuring the safe delivery of all live poultry from the farms to a processing plant. ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Makes repairs needed on coops or anything else to do with the live haul departments. (Fixing hinges, wires that have come out of place.) Is responsible for picking up dead birds on the lot by hand and taking them to protein for processing on a daily basis. Catches any live birds that are loose and delivers them to a properly designated area. Helps clean bird wreckage. Mops and cleans in assigned areas. Checks fluids in the company pickup truck before each trip. Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization. Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Requirements

Will lift or move up to 70 pounds.
Must be able to work in temperature extremes.
Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Some maintenance experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED.
Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
