The Cafeteria Worker - Floater position is designed to support the school lunch program across various locations within the district. The role involves performing daily production, serving, and cleaning duties, while also engaging with students to assist them in making healthy menu selections. The worker will be assigned to different sites as needed and will be responsible for a variety of food service tasks.

  • Perform food service production and operational tasks as assigned by the school's site manager.
  • Assist in the preparation of foods using standardized recipes and menus, and portion controls in accordance with work production standards.
  • Set up food on serving lines and/or steam tables and serve meals or meal components.
  • Conduct the cashiering function in accordance with established financial and accountability procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment and work areas including the kitchen floors, walk-in refrigerators, and storage areas.
  • Follow established Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures and food safety standards.
  • Assist with maintaining production records, HACCP logs, and satellite control sheets.
  • Properly store food and supplies.
  • Transport food from the base complex to the receiving school, if required.
  • Report to any site in the complex as assigned.
  • High school diploma or appropriate equivalent is preferred.
  • One (1) year experience in the field of food service is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid class C Maryland driver's license or an equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of school system's safety, procedural, and policy guidelines, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Ability to understand and speak English.
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with teachers, students, and other employees.
  • Good human relations and communications skills.
