About The Position

Under the supervision of the building Principal, the Cafeteria Monitor is responsible for supervising and monitoring students in the cafeteria as well as when they enter and leave the cafeteria area. The Cafeteria Monitor may also be required to supervise students outside during recess.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply techniques in working with students in the area of behavior management.
  • Must possess a current First Aid/CPR card, or be able to acquire within 45 days.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
  • Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others.
  • Supports a positive school environment that celebrates, respects and values diversity, where learning is made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures.
  • Participates in activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to equitable outcomes for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Supervise and monitor students as they enter and leave the cafeteria.
  • Maintain order and flow of student traffic.
  • Enforce cafeteria rules and procedures.
  • Carry out discipline procedures as defined by the building principal.
  • Insure safety and security in designated area.
  • Perform first aid/CPR when necessary.
  • Perform playground duties when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
