Responsibilities

• Coordinate with food service employees to ensure timely preparation of menu items.
• Review daily production records and secure necessary ingredients and equipment for meal preparation.
• Clean and prepare fresh fruits and vegetables; prepare simple meal items such as toast, rice, and cereals.
• Assemble items such as salads, sandwiches, and baked goods; assist with meal preparation for students with dietary needs.
• Portion and pack menu items for satellite feeding.
• Set up serving counters for meal service, serve students and staff, and replenish food as needed.
• Wash pots, pans, plates, and other kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Clean and maintain work areas, serving counters, dining areas, and washrooms in a sanitary manner.
• Label, store, and dispose of leftover foods properly.
• Receive provisions, document product temperature, and report discrepancies to the School Food Services Manager.
• Oversee the work of student helpers assigned to the school kitchen.
• Attend staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training as required.
