About The Position

Meridian Health Services is currently seeking a full time Cafeteria Food Worker II for our Riverbend Inpatient Program located in Lafayette, Indiana. This is a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday and some weekends.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Graduate.
  • Food Handler Certification or obtain within 1 year of hire. (ServeSafe or NRFSP)
  • Previous healthcare food service experience.
  • 2 years' experience in food services required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education in relevant Food Services field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares quantity foods and meals that are attractive and tasteful, according to established standards.
  • Demonstrates understanding of special nutritional needs of clients and/or therapeutic diets.
  • Serves meals in the dining room and prepares trays for clients and delivers trays to unit.
  • Prepares and delivers snacks and nourishments to unit.
  • Maintains an organized, sanitary and safe food prep area, including cutting boards, knives and small equipment.
  • Maintains appropriate, sanitary and safe work habits on a consistent basis, i.e. frequent hand washing, time and temperature standards, proper sanitizer use.
  • Participates in cleaning needs of department.
  • Participates in planning and organizing department catering needs and special events of the department.
  • Reports necessary repairs to the maintenance department by use of the computer reporting system.
  • Assists with putting away deliveries according to established standards.
  • Maintains accurate written records. (temps, production, meal counts etc.)
  • Consistently completes all work as outlined on position sheet.
  • Assists with menu and recipe development.
  • Assists with inventory, ordering and procuring of supplies.
  • Uses EMR daily to review needs of clients.
  • Communicates special needs per policy.
  • Does personal interview with clients in absence of RD and Director, to gather relevant information necessary for meal preparations.
  • Documents information in EMR and communicates needs to department staff.
  • Verifies diet orders other than regular.
  • Utilizes training and staff development opportunities or activities appropriate to department function.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Participates in organization's quality improvement program.
