About the position

The Cafeteria Cook Helper assists in preparing, cooking, and serving food in the school cafeteria or central school district kitchen. This role involves operating specialized food service equipment, assisting in food production, service, and cleanup tasks, receiving and unpacking food and supplies, serving meals to students and staff, and maintaining cleanliness of food service equipment and facilities. The position also requires participation in ongoing professional training and adherence to safety and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate specialized food service equipment.
• Assist in food production, service and/or cleanup tasks as assigned.
• Receive and unpack food and supplies.
• Serve foods, breakfast/lunch to students and staff.
• Clean and maintain food service equipment and facilities.
• Participate in ongoing professional training.
• Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience or training is preferred.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
