SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Retail Manager and according to established policies and procedures operates a computerized cash register recording cafeteria items sold; updates daily menu boards; and programs daily items and prices into the cash register.Closes out register and performs other duties as required. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates a cash register for customers or employees in exchange for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customers. Understands and follows Sodexho cash handling policies and procedures. Maintains proper security of cash at all times. May assist in locating, reconciling and verifying the accuracy of transactions using peripheral electronic data processing devices. May also be required to prepare for service before the meal and clean the dining room after the meal (wiping tables, vacuuming the floor, cleaning chairs, ensuring the acceptable appearance of the dining area). May set-up and stock the beverage area or other assigned areas. Operates a computerized cash register with keys listing menu selections; computes charges for each meal item and assigns appropriate cost control (i.e. employee, free, visitor, etc.), receives cash and makes change for visitors and employees eating in the Cafeteria. Closes out cash registers following an established sequence, places register tapes in cash banks for reconciliation. Ensures that the cash drawer has the proper level of cash, purchasing additional change as necessary. Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and to perform simple arithmetic calculations Good math ability in order to make change. Interpersonal skills as a majority of work time is spent in contact with Cafeteria patrons. EXPERIENCE: Up to one month on-the-job training and experience to become familiar with job routine, and functions of the cash register. WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Working conditions are generally good, with little discomfort from heat, noise, dust and the like.
