About The Position

The Cafeteria Assistant works under supervision to assist in setting up the serving line, serving and storing food and equipment for students and staff, and cleaning up the kitchen. This position is part-time and nonexempt, with a salary range of $14.70 to $17.57 based on the candidate's experience. Additional professional growth funds may be awarded for college coursework completed beyond a high school diploma. Salary placement will be determined by HR upon hiring.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
• One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must obtain a Food Handler's Card.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card (with IVP number).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of food products.
• Operate institutional equipment such as mixer, slicer, chopper, oven, range, scale, steam-cooking equipment, and dishwashing machines.
• Select, weigh, and measure ingredients; prepare food.
• Set up serving line or lines.
• Serve students with correct portions.
• Sell breakfast and/or lunch tickets.
• Clean up serving lines.
• Perform general clean-up: wash dishes, pots and pans, equipment, cooking and preparation surfaces, and the floor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
