About The Position

The Cafe Staff member is primarily responsible for creating our guests’ experience at Prince Street Cafe (PSC). They are the backbone of success for the entire cafe and handle all of the important logistics. This includes greeting the guests, receiving their orders, maintaining a beautiful and clean space, interacting with guests during their entire visit and serving them in a variety of ways. This also includes making menu items, managing inventory, cleaning functions, washing dishes, and other organizational tasks. The Cafe Staff member is initially trained in either a Back of House or Front of House role, based upon the daily needs of the cafe. Cross training becomes available depending upon the employee’s performance and cafe needs.

• In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 7-8 hours.
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and repetitive motion.
• Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
• Ability to use tools, equipment, and other standard commercial kitchen equipment.
• Completely familiar with PSC food and smoothie recipes.
• Create all food/drink items with current standards.
• Chop and slice food items as necessary.
• Set-up and stock food to be ready for rushes.
• Wash dishes in accordance with current standards
• Proficient and knowledgeable in food handling.
• Operate the cash register.
• Serve guests efficiently with processing their orders and payments.
• Be constantly available to guests and perceive their needs in advance of them asking.
• Create thoughtful and helpful conversations with guests.
• Provide guests with menu details and any questions about PSC history and menu items.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages according to current standards.
• Capable of making meaningful conversation with strangers for up to 8 hours.
• Ability to interact socially in a positive manner with guests.
• Proficient mathematical skills for operating the cash register and handling money.
• Extensive knowledge of all PSC products, production information, sourcing, etc.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working in a cafe is preferred
