Cafe Park Host/Cashier
About The Position
The Cashier/Host is responsible for accurately collecting payments, making change for food and beverage purchases, and ensuring guest satisfaction. This role also involves seating guests in the restaurant according to their arrival. The incumbent is expected to adhere to company and department policies, exercise sound judgment, and prioritize accuracy and detail. The position requires compliance with accounting guidelines for payment processing, cash drawer management, and balancing the house bank. Additionally, the role includes general cleaning tasks and assisting with 'to-go' orders, with duties subject to change as needed by management.
Requirements
- Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Basic math skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing
- Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations, such as inaccurate check total
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently enough to understand menus, special promotions, and communicate with guests
- Ability to operate a keyboard and a POS system
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma preferred
- Prior hospitality and cashiering experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Receive and visually inspects guest checks for any inaccuracies, then closes the check to the proper method of payment
- Ascertain guest satisfaction, and in the event of dissatisfaction, tactfully negotiates accommodation
- Comply with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, check total certification, tip disbursement, cash drawer, and house bank management
- Balance house bank at the end of the shift
- Receive all guests entering the restaurant, and seat them in the appropriate server’s section
- Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere with health standards
- Assisting in placing “to-go” orders
- Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
