Requirements

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various duties in the Cafe, including cashiering, stocking and cooking.
  • Performs various duties of Retail Host/Hostess as needed.
  • Receives customer orders, relays orders to cooks, and delivers items to customers over counter.
  • Operates cash register, computes bill, itemizes lists, and displays cost of customer purchase and tax on monitor screen.
  • Makes change, cashes checks, and issues receipts to customers.
  • Reads and records totals shown on cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand.
  • Quotes price and describes features of items for which money is received.
  • Stocks shelves, marks price on items, and keeps area neat and clean.
  • Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking invoice against items received.
  • Reads food order slip or receives verbal instructions as to food required by customer.
  • Prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Cleans work area and food preparation equipment.
  • Stocks food and cooking equipment, ensuring adequate supplies.
  • Maintains courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with customers and ensures customers receive high quality service.
  • Inherent in each position is a general duty to maintain each respective work area in a safe and sanitary condition. Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is required as an essential function of this position. The employee may be required to perform other such duties within the scope of their employment as may be assigned. The employee must also possess the ability to take direction, follow instructions, work with others, follow work rules and schedules, and focus on details.
