About The Position

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Cafe Cashier to join our team! JOB SUMMARY: The Café Cashier will assist café customers and will operate the Point of Sale cashier. He/she will keep the café well stocked with food and supplies, keep the café area clean and tidy and will prepare nightly deposits. The cashier will assist in stocking and rotating of the vision cooler and provide enough notice of items to be made and replaced. Requirements

• High school graduate (or equivalent)
• Food Handler’s Permit (required within 30 days of employment)
• No previous experience – will train the right person for skill set

Responsibilities

• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) cashier system to check out café customers
• Ring up café customers’ sales, taking payments by cash, credit/debit card, gift card or employee payroll deduction
• Issue gift cards
• Make correct change
• The employee is required to comply with all PCI (Payment Card Industry) standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
• Assist café customers
• Process customers at check out in an efficient manner (as quickly as possible, but with courtesy)
• Help navigate the customers in the café, assist them in locating items and answer questions to promote a positive experience in our facility
• Assist in familiarizing our guests with ordering procedures as needed.
• Keep the café well stocked
• Stock café food and supplies as needed
• Inform the cooks of items that need to be prepared with enough notice for the cooks to prepare, keep the vision cooler stocked and rotated
• Change out boxes and tanks on the soda machine as they run out, as well as other food dispensing equipment such as the hot cocoa machine
• Rotate all food items using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method
• Make sure all grab and go items have a use by date, and that all items are pulled by that date
• Keep condiments stocked and rotated
• Keep disposable products such as napkins, straws and to-go-boxes stocked
• Keep food items in dining room vending machines well stocked and rotated
• Keep the café area maintained and clean
• Throughout the day wipe up spills and pick up trash left behind
• Regularly wipe down and tidy up the salad and soup bar
• At the end of the day, the café and dining room areas will be thoroughly cleaned according to department procedures, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, etc.
• Complete deep cleaning tasks as assigned
• Prepare nightly deposits at the end of business each day according to hospital and department policy and procedures.
• Count till
• Complete a daily deposit report
• Prepare deposit slip
• Give prepared deposit to the Café Service Coordinator or the Lead on duty
• Keep the café menu boards updated and current
• Updating the café POS registers as needed
• Forward intra-department charges for items removed from the café or kitchen for use in other hospital departments or provider meals to the Patient Nutrition Coordinator for billing
• Provide deposit to the courier for deposit or lock deposit in safe
• Prepare Vending Machine Deposit Report and make deposits as outlined in department policies and procedures
